Medicare Coverage

HCPCS Code: E0627 – Electric Seat Lift Mechanism

The Sitting Pretty® Evolution LC435XL contains an electrically operated seat-lift mechanism associated with HCPCS E0627.

Medicare may cover the medically necessary electric seat-lift mechanism portion of a qualifying combination lift chair when applicable requirements are satisfied. The ordinary upholstered recliner or furniture portion of the chair is generally not covered as durable medical equipment.

Coverage requires the seat-lift mechanism to be medically necessary and prescribed as part of the treating practitioner’s course of treatment. Applicable Medicare requirements include qualifying medical and functional limitations, appropriate documentation, and the ability of the lift mechanism to assist the beneficiary in transitioning between sitting and standing.

After the Medicare Part B deductible is satisfied, beneficiaries generally pay 20% of the Medicare-approved amount for qualifying covered DME when the supplier accepts assignment.
